On 4th November 2023 the 6th Empathy Jam Galway, a user experience research and design event, will be held in the Portershed. The first Empathy Jam took place in New York in 2016 and the very successful inaugural Empathy Jam Galway took place in 2018. This collaborative UX effort between local tech entrepreneur Diarmaid Ó Fátharta (Tonnta) and University of Galway academics Mairéad Hogan (J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics) and Karen Young (School of Computer Science) is sponsored by DXC, itag, Genesys, Liberty IT, Rent The Runway, Signify Health and The Portershed.
Participants in the event will be given a challenge to solve in relation to improving the everyday lives of those around them. With help from experienced mentors from local industry and University of Galway researchers and academics, they collaborate and innovate to reach a creative solution while learning or practicing User Experience Design methods.
Through Empathy Jam, participants will learn how empathy can connect us all, solve problems, and build something with lasting impact.
A limited number of tickets to the event, costing €10, are still available. If you are interested in attending, Empathy Jam Galway can be contacted at empathyjamgalway@gmail.com.
