In October 2014, after 16 years as a consultant, entrepreneur and angel investor in NYC, Niamh returned to Dublin to become our first Commissioner for Startups with responsibility for spearheading the development of the city as a global hub for innovative companies. In 2016 Niamh set up Tech Ireland as a not for profit, tracking thousands of Irish Technology companies, and continued in her work to Campaign for female founder funding. In 2019 Niamh took up the role of chief communications officer with start-up Soapbox Labs. Headed up by Dr Patricia Scanlon, Soapbox Labs is a speech recognition start-up focused on applying the technology to help children.
A graduate of Electronic Engineering NUIG, Dorothy has worked for corporate giants such as Google and Abbott Vascular as well as award-winning Irish startups. In 2017 she was recognised as one of Ireland’s top 25 female engineers. With this extensive experience in scaling enterprise software development teams, Dorothy was appointed Managing Director & Site Lead for Ireland at Rent the Runway’s new European HQ in Galway in 2019.
