‘Current cybersecurity solutions vs XDR and the impact on future cybersecurity landscape’

Extremely motivated a Free Open Source Software evangelist with a great interest in sharing knowledge. Interested in working in a community environment where the knowledge have no boundaries. Experienced Linux Systems Administration, Penetration Testing, Vulnerability Analysis, Management and Assessment. Promoting real world of hacking and hackers culture and ethics.

‘Starting, Running and Selling your Cybersecurity Startup’

In 2002, John co-founded the network security company NetFort Technologies. Under John’s direction, Netfort built up an impressive portfolio of customers including the US Navy, Washington Gas, ANZ Bank, Paddy Power and the US Department of Treasury. In April 2019, NetFort was acquired by the US cloud security company, Rapid7. In this session John will describe some of the key lessons learnt while setting up, running and selling Netfort.

Facilitator: John Barry, Security Architect

John is a Security Architect for Intel with a focus on networking solutions. He has an established track record architecting and designing robust communications systems including compliance with recognized cryptographic and security standards. He has extensive experience protecting customer and consumer assets across Intel’s portfolio of network adapters, infrastructure processing units and high capacity switches. Prior to joining Intel, John held leadership positions developing telecoms and infrastructure silicon with Lightstorm Networks, PMC-Sierra and Toucan Technologies.

Dr. Michael Lang, Associate Professor, University of Galway

Dr. Michael Lang is a Senior Lecturer in Business Information Systems at University of Galway.
His principal research and teaching areas are business systems analysis & design, database technologies and analytics, information systems security, ethical issues in ICT, and information systems education.
Dr. Lang’s work has featured in leading international journals such as IEEE Software, Information and Software Technology, Information Systems Management, Communications of the AIS, Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems, Information and Computer Security, Requirements Engineering, Journal of Information Systems Education, and IEEE Multimedia.
His work has been presented at several international forums, including the European Conference on Information Systems, International Conference on Information Systems, International Conference on Information Systems Development, and the international conferences of IFIP TC-8, IFIP TC-11, AIS Special Interest Group on Security (SIGSEC), and AIS Special Interest Group on Systems Analysis & Design (SIGSAND).

Geraldine Powderly, VP & Chief Information Security Officer, SkySpecs

Geraldine is an innovative thinker and leader, with an ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams.  She is an experienced Cyber Security specialist with hands on across all domains. As well as having experience with contract and vendor negotiations and management including managed services. Geraldine has acquired specific experience in Agile (scaled) software development and DevSecOps, Shift Left Security and is a confident leader in data protection matters related Cloud computing, AWS & Azure.

Seán Morris, Chief Technology Officer, TitanHQ

Seán is a Transformational Organisation and Technology Global leader with 20+ years of experience, across multiple industries. Accountable for setting strategic direction, enabling talent growth, and execution of product development as drivers for business results. During his career, he has spearheaded multiple successful initiatives across software development lifecycle, product development, DevOps, Agile, analytics, cloud, data and talent acquisition domains.
Seán is particularly focused on driving organisational improvement, and has demonstrated proven capability in deploying highly effective change management, optimisation and automation strategies across technology resulting in tangible business value and operational excellence.

John Durcan, Senior technologist for Emerging Business & Technology Division, IDA Ireland

John is a technologist with IDA, with a current focus areas are AI, Cyber Security, Semi-conductors, Data Ethics and Digital Transformation.  John has previously worked in Enterprise Ireland as a technologist. He is also a member of the Irish Aid Rapid Response Corps where from time to time works with the UN on information management, mostly recently just returned from Slovakia working with UNHCR on the Ukrainian Refugee Crisis.
